2022 World Cup Qualifiers Between Nigeria and Ghana, Gets New Dates

The 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Black Stars of Ghana have gotten new dates. NFF’s Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, made this known in a statement on Monday. The first leg billed for Thursday, March 24 at the Cape Coast Stadium, will now take place on Friday, March 25 starting from 7.30pm Ghana time, which will be 8.30pm in Nigeria. While the second leg initially set for Sunday, 27th March, will now hold at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Tuesday, 29th March, starting from 6pm Nigeria time.

Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rorh Gets The Boot

The Nigeria Football Federation; NFF has bowed to pressure by asking Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr to quit as manager of the Senior National Team. The German gaffer was sacked despite Nigeria progressing to Africa’s 2022 World Cup play-offs. The Super Eagles, three-time African champions, finished top of Group C despite being held 1-1 by Cape Verde in Lagos on Tuesday on the heels of un-impressive performances against Central African Republic and Liberia. Rohr was appointed head coach of the Super Eagles in August 2016 and led the team to a third-place finish at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. The German’s conservative approach and Super Eagles’ uninspiring performances have been heavily criticized by the media and supporters.

NFF Invite 26 Eagles List for Congo Invitational

26 players from the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL,  have been invited for an invitational tournament in Congo later in the Year. Some players who featured for the Home based Eagles in the friendly match against Mexico last July were also recalled, including Stanley Nwabili, Tope Olusesi and Adekunle Adeleke. The team will be handled by NFF Technical director Coach Austin Eguavoen and his assistant, Paul Aigbogun.
