NFF Invite 26 Eagles List for Congo Invitational

26 players from the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL,  have been invited for an invitational tournament in Congo later in the Year. Some players who featured for the Home based Eagles in the friendly match against Mexico last July were also recalled, including Stanley Nwabili, Tope Olusesi and Adekunle Adeleke. The team will be handled by NFF Technical director Coach Austin Eguavoen and his assistant, Paul Aigbogun. The Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL Premiership 2021/2022 Season is set to Kick-off On The 8th Of December 2021. Fourteen teams have been separated into two groups that will contend for top spots at the end of the season. Group A. Adamawa Queens Confluence Queens Edo Queens Osun Babes Pelican Stars Naija Ratels Nasarawa Amazons. Group B. Abia Angels Bayelsa Queens Delta Queens Rivers Angels FC Robo Queens Royal Queens Sunshine Queens.

Resignations hit Caretaker Committee of Handball Federation

The Chairman Caretaker Committee of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) Mr. Samuel Ocheho has resigned. Madam Halima Benjamin, who was a member of the same committee also tendered her resignation. According to the Secretary General of the Handball Federation of Nigeria, the resignations were received on Wednesday. These resignations are not unconnected to their interest in contesting at the forthcoming zonal representative election which will hold on the September 22, 2021. Mr. Ocheho is expected to vie for zonal representative of the South-West which will hold in Ibadan while Madam Halima will contest for the zonal representative of North Central. The resignation is in line with the National Sports Federation election guideline under Electoral Committee article 4.3 which state that “the caretaker committee members of the board of each of the National Sports Federation presently constituted shall not be members of the Electoral Committee neither shall they be eligible to contest any election unless they resign from their office or appointment not less than one week prior to the election”. They appreciated the Federal Ministry of Sports for giving them the opportunity to serve as caretaker committee members of the HFN after the board of the National Sport Federations were dissolved in June. Mr. Sam Ocheho who came in to be the President of the Handball Federation of Nigeria in 2017, has done a whole lot to reposition handball and make it one of the profitable sports which so much accolades locally and internationally with him recently elected president of CAHB Zone 3. He was selected as Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the HFN alongside Madam Halima Benjamin after the Sports federation boards were dissolved. Zonal Representative elections will hold across the country on September 22, 2021 in Ibadan for the South-West, Enugu for South-East, Benin for South-South, Markudi for North-Central, Bauchi for North-East, Kaduna for North-West. The winners of the different zones will meet in Abuja for the President and Vice President election on September 30, 2021 with the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development (FMYSD) and the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) acting as election monitors

Governor Udom Emmanuel signs Akwa Ibom Anti- Grazing Bill Into Law

The Governor of Akwa lbom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel has signed into Law a Bill to Prohibit Open Rearing and Grazing of Livestock and Provide for the Establishment of Ranches in Akwa Ibom State. The Speaker, Rt Hon Aniekan Bassey with the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Uko Udom (SAN), presented the Bill for signing today at the State Executive Chambers, in the Governor’s Office, Uyo. The Governor after signing the Bill into Law stated that the new Law is no respecter of persons irrespective of status or caliber. He instructed relevant authorities of government to ensure that the bill is implemented and enforced to the letter with strict compliance, stressing that culprits must be brought to book accordingly. The new Law will promote modern techniques in animal husbandry, prevent the destruction of farms by wandering Cattle, while reducing clashes and killings between herders and farmers in the state. It will also promote international best practices in livestock administration, regulation and control in the state, among other things. Recall that the House at yesterday’s plenary passed the Bill into Law, with Tuesday, September 14, 2021 as its commencement date and the Speaker, Rt Hon. Aniekan Bassey, immediately directed the Clerk of the House, Mrs Mandu Umoren to communicate the decision of the House to the the Governor for his assent. Also at the Executive Chambers, the Speaker who was accompanied by Rt Hon Udo Kierian Akpan, the Leader of the House and Mrs Mandu Umoren, Clerk of the Assembly to the signing ceremony witnessed the inauguration of two Committees by the Governor. The Committees are the Akwa Ibom State Gender Based Violence Management Committee, chaired by the First Lady, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel and Akwa Ibom State Road Safety Management Committee, chaired by the Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo
