The Federal High Court sitting in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital had today; December 1, 2022 sentenced Senator  representing Akwa Ibom North East District, and Governorship candidate of the Youth Progressive Party; YPP, Obong Bassey Albert a.k.a OBA, to 42 years in prison over corruption charges. The court on Thursday, convicted and sentenced Obong Bassey Albert who was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, over accusetions of receiving bribes of 12 cars worth N254 million from an oil marketer, Olajidee Omokore, while he (OBA) served  as commissioner for finance in Akwa Ibom State. The Senator was immeditately taken to Ikot Ekpene prisons, to begin his prison term.
