Manu Garba Opens Eaglet camp, invites 52 Players ahead of U-17 FIFA world Cup

The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria on Tuesday in Abuja resumed camping ahead of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup finals holding in Brazil from October 26 – November 17, 2019.

The five-time champions sealed their qualification to the Global showpiece having finished among the top four teams at the Africa Under-17 Cup of Nations in Tanzania in earlier in the year.

Head Coach Manu Garba has called up 52 players who were expected to arrive in Abuja on Tuesday (Aug. 13), according Ademola Olajire, the Director of Communications at Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Garba was head coach of the Nigerian squad which won Nigeria’s fourth title in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2013.

The Golden Eaglets have won the chmpionship in the past with successes recorded in 1985, 1993, 2007 and 2015 championships in China, Japan, Korea Republic and Chile respectively.

Liverpool and Chelsea set Istanbul afire for 2019 UEFA SuperCup

Champions League winners; Liverpool and their Europa League counterpart; Chelsea will be contesting in the first all-English UEFA Super Cup final Tonight in Istanbul, Turkey.

The showpiece match is the season opener for European competitions as the English rivals will be aiming to dethrone reigning champions Atletico Madrid who defeated LaLiga rivals Real Madrid in Tallinn last season.

This is the Second time since 2008 that a Spanish team will be absent in UEFA SuperCup

The Premier League has not had a Super Cup champion since Liverpool beat CSKA Moscow in 2005, but that is set to change tonight – when an English side will get their hands on the trophy for the eighth time.
The Reds currently have three wins to their name in this fixture, having featured five times in the competition.

Liverpool won in 1977 (vs Hamburg) and 2005 (CSKA Moscow) as European champions and in 2001 (vs Bayern Munich) as UEFA Cup holders.

Chelsea will be competing in their fourth UEFA Super Cup final match this week, and will be looking to add to their solitary win against Real Madrid in 1998, under new Coach; Frank Lampard, twice a losing finalist as a player with the Blues in 2012 (vs Atletico Madrid) and 2013 (vs Bayern Munich).
Lampard will be hoping he can lift his first silverware as Chelsea head coach if they can overcome their domestic rivals in Turkey.

After concluding his record transfer to Manchester United, Harry Maguire has penned an emotional tweet to Leicester City Management and Fans.

Manchester United have paid a world-record fee for a defender to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester City. Maguire moves to United on a six-year deal with an option for a seventh year, for a fee understood to be around £80m.

“I am delighted to have signed for this great club,” Maguire said after completing his move to the red side of Manchester.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Leicester and would like to thank everyone at the club, and the fans, for their fantastic support over the past two seasons. However, when Manchester United come knocking on your door, it is an incredible opportunity.

“From my conversations with the manager, I am excited about the vision and plans he has for the team. It’s clear to see that Ole is building a team to win trophies. I am now looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and getting the season started.”

England centre-back Maguire has been Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s prime transfer target to reinforce United’s defence this summer.

“He is a great reader of the game and has a strong presence on the pitch, with the ability to remain calm under pressure – coupled with his composure on the ball and a huge presence in both boxes – I can see he will fit well into this group both on and off the pitch.
Maguire was in Manchester over the weekend to complete the final details of his transfer and meet with Solskjaer and his new team-mates at the club’s Carrington training ground on Sunday.

The 26-year-old was Formally unveiled as a Manchester United player on Monday and could make his debut for his new club when Chelsea visit Old Trafford

DELE-BASHIRU LEAVES MAN CITY FOR WATFORD

The Hornets have completed the signing of the Nigeria youth international on a free transfer after his contract expired at the Etihad Stadium.

The Premier League club, Watford announced the arrival of TOM DELE-BASHIRU on a six-year deal.

DELE-BASHIRU left Manchester City following the expiry of his contract and will now continue his career at Vicarage Road until 2024.

The 19-year-old midfielder was part of the Nigeria Under-20 team at the 2019 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Poland and he scored a goal in three games before their exit in the knockout round.
