December 29, 2023 Akeredolu’s Loyalists Resign as Aiyedatiwa’s Reign Begins
Following the death of Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State on Wednesday, no fewer than five of his aides are reported to have tendered their resignation. Akeredolu’s deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was sworn in on Wednesday, few hours after Akeredolu’s death was announced and almost immediately, the resignation letters of Akeredolu’s aides began to pour in. They include Akeredolu’s Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde; and the ex-governor’s Special Adviser on Union Matters and Special Duties, Mr Dare Aragbaye. Others are the Commissioner for Infrastructure Lands and Housing, Mr Aminu Raimi; the Special Assistant on Photography, Mr Olawale  Abolade; and the Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties and Strategy, Dr Doyin Odebowale. While many believe that the treatment meted out to Aiyedatiwa while in acting capacity by some of these aides led to their resignation for fear of being victimized, others say it is in loyalty to their boss who just passed on.
