October 20, 2021 Newcastle United Axe Steve Bruce
New owners of Newcastle United have sacked head coach Steve Bruce. This was made known in a release on the Club’s official website. Steve Bruce was expected to be replaced after the Saudi Arabian-backed consortium, led by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), completed a £305m takeover of Newcastle on October 7. The Manager was in charge for the 3-2 defeat to Tottenham which left the team one spot shy of the bottom of the English Premier League table- His 1000th game as a Manager. The game had non-executive chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan and director Amanda Staveley in attendance at St James’ Park. Newcastle said the process of recruiting a new head coach is underway, as former Roma boss Paulo Fonseca has emerged as a top contender. The club are expected to hold talks with Fonseca this week. Graeme Jones will lead the team on an interim basis, starting with Saturday’s trip to Crystal Palace.
