60.55% of Secondary School Leavers Secured Credit Passes in English and Mathematics

828,284 candidates secured credit passes in English Language and Mathematics representing 60.55% of the candidates who sat for the 2024 Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) internal examination conducted by the National Examination Council (NECO).

Announcing the results at the headquarters of the council in Minna, the Niger State capital on Thursday, NECO Registrar, Prof DANTANI WUSHISHI, said more than million candidates sat for the examination.

WUSHISHI furthernoted that 8,407candidates were involved in malpractices in the 2024 internal examination, indicating a reduction from 12,030 in the 2023 examination.

Jega Presents Livestock Sector Reforms to President Tinubu

Co-Chairman of the Presidential Livestock Reforms Committee, Prof ATTAHIRU JEGA, on Thursday presented a 152-page report to President BOLA TINUBU, detailing reform measures for the livestock sector.

Part of the report recommended a ten-year transformation process through which Nigerians and the government can harness gains in the sector, including the recommendations on how best to resolve issues that result in the farmers-herders crisis amicably.

The report also includes operational guidelines for the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, a new ministry created by the TINUBU administration.

JEGA equally recommended that livestock grazing and ranching should continue side by side, while the country promotes a long-term objective of having an intensive livestock sector.

Recall that Prof. JEGA who is the former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)was appointed Co-Chairman of the Presidential Livestock Reforms Committee in July this year.

Rangers International FC of Enugu have departed the country for their CAF Champions League second preliminary round reverse leg clash against Sagrada Esperanca.

The Flying Antelopes left Akanu Ibiam International Airport aboard an Air Peace flight to Lagos before connecting a direct flight to Angola on Wednesday.

The contingent, which consists of players and officials, is expected to arrive in Luanda on Thursday.Rangers have departed the country for their CAF Champions League second preliminary round reverse leg clash against SagradaEsperanca.

CBN Reintroduces Reduced Cyber Security Levies

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has confirmed the enforcement of the controversial cybercrime levy at 0.005 percent on all electronic transactions under its new guidelines for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.

Apex Bank disclosed this in its recently released Monetary, Credit, Foreign Trade, and Exchange Policy Guidelines for Fiscal Years 2024-2025.

The development comes after the levy was purportedly suspended after it sparked debate among Nigerians. CBN reaffirmed its commitment to mandating banks and other financial institutions to deduct the levy from all electronic transactions.
