VP Kashim Shettima In Davos for World Economic Forum

Vice President KASHIM SHETTIMA is in Davos, Switzerland, for the 2025 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, WEF.

The WEF meeting brings together global leaders, business executives, and development partners to address pressing global and national economic challenges and identify strategies for sustainable growth.

Vice President Shettimais expected to participate in bilateral meetings and discussions aimed at advancing the nation’s economic opportunities and addressing global risks.

He will also participate in the launch of the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing Roadmap for Africa aimed at fostering public-private partnerships and attracts investments into Africa’s emerging markets.

However, the Vice President is expected to return to Abuja after concluding his engagements in Davos.

NOA Akwa Ibom Warns Indigenes and Residents Against Fuel Scooping

Due to the increasing incidents of petrol tanker accidents and the attendant dangers its possess to humans and the environment, the State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Akwa Ibom State, Mr. MKPOUTOM MKPOUTOM has charged the Chief Orientation and Mobilization Officers of the 31 Local Government Areas to intensify efforts on the ongoing Sensitization campaign on the dangers of fuel scooping in their respective Local Government Areas.

Speaking with newsmen in Uyo, MKPOUTOM stated that the rampant cases of fallen tankers and its attendant hazards have drawn the attention of both government and well-meaning Nigerians.

The NOA State Director highlighted some of the immediate health hazards of scooping fuel from a fallen tanker to include skin irritations, respiratory problems, dizziness, headaches, and even unconsciousness.

He identified that one of the most pressing dangers of collecting fuel from a downed tanker is the potential for fire explosion.

MrMKPOUTOMcharged the state National Orientation Agency to ensure public safety by continuing its job on public awareness to adhere strictly with its mandate, thus ensuring responsible behavior among Citizens.

Entertainers in Akwa Ibom Appeal for More Investment in the Sector

A growing group of entertainers from Akwa Ibom State have made an impassioned appeal to the state government, urging for increased support and investment to help foster the growth and development of the local entertainment industry.

 

The entertainers, who are filmmakers, producers and actors, are calling for targeted policies, infrastructure, and financial backing to harness Akwa Ibom’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant artistic community.

 

Speaking with INSPIRATION FM News, a filmmaker working with Chain-star Production, DAVID ITORO, highlighted the challenges entertainers in the state are facing, said the industry is a major contributor to the economy, and that to take the industry to the next level, government’s support of needed.

The entertainment sector in Akwa Ibom, which is home to a rapidly growing pool of musicians, filmmakers, and other creative, has garnered attention in recent years, particularly with the success of the just concluded Ibom Christmas Unplugged 2.0.

Also speaking, an Actor, SUNDAY GENTLE appealed for the establishment of a state-owned entertainment hub, where budding creative can access resources, including recording studios, rehearsal spaces, and venues for showcasing their work.

As the entertainment industry continues to grow in significance, both locally and globally, it remains to be seen whether the Akwa Ibom government will take decisive steps to help foster the industry’s potential, or if the entertainers will be left waiting for the promised changes. Nonetheless, their unified appeal signals the urgent need for action and greater collaboration between the creative community and the state government.
