Akwa Ibom’s Mfon Akpan Among 4 Nigerian Referees Appointed by CAF for AWCON Qualifiers

Akwa Ibom State born female Referee; Mfon Akpan has been named among the Referees appointed by CAF  for the Second leg of the African Women’s cup of Nations qualifiers between Burkina Faso and Guinea Bissau.

Patience Ndidi Madu will be the center referee to be assisted by compatriots Mimisen Iyorhe and Mfon Akpan with Alaba Olufunmilayo as the Fourth Official. The Nigerian quartet will be assessed by Oulere Daloba of Guinea.


Assa Soumare of Mali will be the Match commissioner while Benin Rebublic’s Sylvestre Parfait will ensure strict adherence to all COVID-19 protocols in his capacity as the COVID-19 Officer.

The Nigerian Referees have since arrived Burkina Faso to familiarize with the environment ahead of the match which will be played at the Porto-Novo-Stade Charles de Gaulle on Wednesday 23rd February 2022 by 5pm.

The Popular Uyo Pastor who recently emerged the new state chairman of Young Progressive Party (YPP), lashed out at CAN via his official Facebook Page.

In recent times, Pastor Nyeneime Andy has been known to berate Church Leaders who appear to be actively involved with the ruling People’s Democratic Party PDP, positing instead that “Akwa Ibom people deserve the best because we are the best. Our vision is to create a party for Akwa Ibom people to express themselves. We want a party of the people and for the people”

Akwa Ibom State Government Swears-In 8 New Permanent Secretaries

The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, on Thursday, swore in eight new Permanent Secretaries into the state public service, charging them to work hand in hand with Executive Council members in charge of the various Ministries to drive the attainment of his administration’s Completion Agenda.

The eight new Permanent Secretaries, with one designated the Auditor General, include, Akparawa James Ndarake Edet, NPOM, Mr. Godwin Jimmy Udoh, Mrs. Regina Isaac Okonko, Mr. Asuquo Selong Edem, Engr. Udosen Ephraim Udo, Mr. Effiong Christopher Nicholas, and Mr. Joseph George Joseph Esidem, while Mr. Isaiah Robson Ntekim, FCAI, was sworn in as the State Auditor General.
