Tinubu Nominates Argungu and Others for Police Service Commission

President TINUBU has forwarded the names of three nominees to the senate for confirmation for appointment as Chairman, Secretary and Member of the Police Service Commission (PSC).

The nominees are; Retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), HASHIM  ARGUNGU (Chairman), Chief ONYEMA UCHE (Secretary) and Retired DIG TAIWO LAKANU (member) of the PSC respectively.

Recall that President TINUBU had sacked retired Inspector General of Police, SOLOMON ARASE, as the chairman of the commission earlier this month.

This is as the PSC battles the Inspector-General of the Nigerian Police Force, KAYODE EGBETOKUN, over what it termed interference in the recruitment of constables into service, and calling on President TINUBU to sack the IGP, EGBETOKUN.

President TINUBU also urged the Senate to consider and confirm the nomination of Dr OLATUNJI BELLO for appointment, as the Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).

France Finish 2nd at Euros After Poland Draw

France blew the chance to finish first in their group despite KYLIAN MBAPPE scoring his maiden European Championship goal in a 1-1 draw with Poland on Tuesday, as Austria won a thriller against the Netherlands to snatch top spot.

DIDIER DESCHAMPS’ France failed to top their group at a major tournament for the first time since Euro 2012 after being made to pay for a series of missed chances.

Austria, who lost their opening game to France, grabbed a 3-2 victory over the Dutch to wrap up a last-16 berth and relegate their already-qualified opponents to third place in Group D.

France will face the runners-up from Group E, in which Belgium, Ukraine, Romania and Slovakia all have three points, in the last 16.

He has deployed the military to quell the protests.

Protests against an unpopular finance bill, which includes several tax rises, have been ongoing for days. But they escalated on Tuesday as MPs passed an amended bill.
