Liverpool Continue Title Charge as Manchester Teams Continue in Chaos
Manchester United suffered a humiliating 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth, while Chelsea missed the chance to close gap with Premier League leader Liverpool after a 0-0 draw at Everton last night.
United boss RUBEN AMORIM, who once again left MARCUS RASHFORD out of his squad, faces a miserable Christmas following the worst result of his brief tenure.
Languishing in 13th place, United have endured four defeats in nine matches across all competitions since AMORIM arrived from Sporting Lisbon in November to replace the sacked ERIK TEN HAG.
Meanwhile as second-placed Chelsea missed the opportunity to close gap after a goalless draw at Everton, Liverpool went four points clear at the top of the Premier League as they handed out a merciless 6-3 thrashing to Tottenham Hotspur in front of their own fans.
ARNE SLOT’s pacesetters were simply irresistible as every frailty in an injury-hit Spurs team was ruthlessly exposed.
IPMAN Announces Reduction in Petrol Pump Price
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, has announced that the pump price of petrol will reduce to 935 naira per litre from today.
The development, according to IPMAN, follows the marketers’ new deal with Dangote Refinery.
IPMAN National President, Alhaji MAIGANDI GARIMA, who made this known yesterday in Abuja, commended the Dangote refinery for the development.
According to him, the new price was necessitated by the reduction in Dangote Refinery’s fuel ex-depot price and uniform arrangement, which would enable marketers to sell at 935 naira in their outlets nationwide.
SERAP Urges National Assembly to Cut Proposed 2025 Budget
Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project – SERAP has urged the Senate President, GODSWILL AKPABIO, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, TAJUDEEN ABBAS to cut the proposed budget of 9.4 billion naira on travels, refreshment/meals, and foodstuff/catering materials for the presidency.
The organisation also asked the Senate President and the Speaker of House of Representatives to cut the proposed 344.5 billion naira for the lawmakers, and to use the savings to address the budget deficit.
SERAP advised AKPABIO and ABBAS to request President BOLA TINUBU to present a fresh supplementary appropriation bill, which reflects the reduced presidency budget and National Assembly budget, for the approval of the National Assembly.
The requests, contained in a letter signed by SERAP deputy director KOLAWOLE OLUWADARE, noted that any proposed unnecessary spending by the presidency and the National Assembly would amount to a fundamental breach of the Nigerian Constitution 1999 [as amended].
