Ralf Rangnick Appointed Manchester United Interim Manager Until End of The Season

Manchester United has appointed Ralf Rangnick as interim manager until the end of the 2021/2022 season.

His contract will see him oversee the first team until June and then remain at the club for at least a further two years in a consultancy role.

Manchester United reached an agreement with Lokomotiv Moscow last week for the release of Ralf Rangnick, who was manager of sports and development at the Russian club.

He takes over from Michael Carrick who was in temporary charge of the team for last week’s 2-0 Champions League win over Villarreal and Sunday’s 1 all draw at Chelsea in the Premier League.

United are planning to make a permanent appointment at the end of the season and Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino is their first choice, with Ajax head coach Erik ten Hag also in their thinking.

Rangnick oversaw the rise of the Red Bull group of clubs in Europe as head coach and sporting director of RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg.

He’s credited to have influenced Jurgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel and Julian Nagelsmann among many other coaches.

#OleOut: Manchester United Boot Out Coach Over Poor Show

The axe finally fell on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s time in the Manchester United dugout as manager following a 4-1 defeat in the hands of Watford.

Solskjaer was sacked on Sunday after a run of one win in seven league games left Manchester United languishing 12 points off the top of the table and facing a battle just to make it into the top four; the league title challenge almost an impossible dream.

Manchester United’s top management had kept faith with Solskjaer despite humiliating home defeats to Liverpool and Manchester City in the past month.

But the manner of another poor show at Vicarage Road broke even their resolve as Solskjaer became the fourth United boss to be sacked in the eight years since Alex Ferguson retired.

United remain well in the fight for a place in next season’s Champions League as other results left them still just six points adrift of the top four.

However, the club’s hierarchy are facing accusations of already giving up on the season after they announced the plan to hire an interim boss for the rest of the campaign, in the hope of having a better pool of candidates to choose from as Solskjaer’s successor in six months’ time.

Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rorh Gets The Boot

The Nigeria Football Federation; NFF has bowed to pressure by asking Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr to quit as manager of the Senior National Team.

The German gaffer was sacked despite Nigeria progressing to Africa’s 2022 World Cup play-offs.

The Super Eagles, three-time African champions, finished top of Group C despite being held 1-1 by Cape Verde in Lagos on Tuesday on the heels of un-impressive performances against Central African Republic and Liberia.

Rohr was appointed head coach of the Super Eagles in August 2016 and led the team to a third-place finish at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

The German’s conservative approach and Super Eagles’ uninspiring performances have been heavily criticized by the media and supporters.
