United Kingdom to Withhold Military Equipment from Isreal

The United Kingdom has suspended some export licences for military equipment to Israel, as the war continues to rage between Isreal and Hamas in Palestine.

UK Foreign Secretary, DAVID LAMMY said there is a clear risk that items exported to Israel might be used in “serious violations of international humanitarian law.

Israel’s Defence Minister, YOAV GALLANT says he is “deeply disheartened” by the decision, while Israeli Foreign Minister, ISRAEL KATZ says the development sends a “problematic” message to Hamas.

It comes as protests continue in Israel, including one outside Prime Minister, BENJAMIN NETANYAHU’s residence, aimed at forcing the government to secure a hostage release deal with Hamas.

Police Invite Ajaero Again

The Nigerian Police Force has again summoned the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, JOE AJAERO, and the General Secretary, EMMA UGBOAJA, to appear at the Force Headquarters on September 5, 2024.

The new invitation is coming barely 24 hours after AJAERO honoured the Police’s invitation over alleged criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion and cybercrime.

This time around, the police invited the NLC President and the General Secretary to answer questions over alleged criminal intimidation, conducts likely to cause breach of public peace, and malicious damage to properties.

Governor Umo Eno Mourns CP Waheed Ayilara

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has expressed the condolences of the government and the people of Akwa Ibom State on the painful and sudden passing of the Commissioner of Police in the state, late Waheed Ayilara.

In a message of condolence released by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, Governor Eno eulogized the late Commissioner of Police as “one of the finest operational officers, a genial and fine gentleman who epitomized the finest ideals of the Nigerian Police Force.

The Governor noted that the late Commissioner of Police was deeply involved with the fabric of the state, having served his mandatory National Youth Service in Akwa Ibom years ago, and later came back as the Unit Commander of Police Mobile Unit 26.

The Governor extended deepest condolences to his family, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, NPM, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, and indeed the entire members of the Akwa Ibom State security community.

The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, Waheed Ayilara is dead.

The Akwa Ibom state Police boss was reported to have passed in away at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos, where he had gone to undergo Prostate surgery, in the early hours of Thursday (August 29, 2024).

Inspiration FM News reached out to the State Police Public relations Officer, ASP Timfon John for comments and confirmation, but an obviously weeping Timfon responded “ You Will have to wait for Official comments concerning that“

CP Waheed Ayilara, a devout Muslim will have to be laid to rest today, according to his religious practice.
