Police Declares Inspector Wanted in Anambra

The Police Command in Anambra state has declared one of its officers, Inspector Audu Omadefu, wanted over suspected murder.

The Police Public relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

He said the cop, with the AP No. 362178, has turned fugitive after the alleged crime as his whereabouts remained unknown.

He urged anyone with useful information on the officer’s whereabouts to report to the nearest Police Station, assuring that such information would be treated with utmost confidentiality.

The statement reads: “Anambra State Police Command hereby declare AP No. 362178, Inspector Audu Omadefu WANTED for MURDER.

 “The Command urges any member of the public who sees the fugitive or has information on his whereabout to report to the nearest Police Station or call the Command Control Room number *07039194332* or the PPRO on *08039334002*

 “Any information given in this regard shall be treated with utmost confidentiality.”

Akwa Ibom State Police Command Investigating Death on Banking Layout

The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom state command, Olatoye Durosinmi, has ordered an investigation into the death of an unidentified woman said to have been beheaded by some unknown assailants on Sunday. The incident occurred around the banking layout area, on Udo Udoma Avenue in Uyo; the state capital where the deceased had lived and farmed before she met her death.

The Public Relations Officer of Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Odiko Macdon, confirmed the incident noting that the identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained, and that the Force was doing everything possible to solve the case.

The PPRO said that the Akwa State CP, Durosinmi, had ordered an immediate investigation into the incident which he said is being conducted discreetly.

He said, “In no distant time, we will get to know what transpired and fish out the perpetrators”.

EFCC Raids “Hustle Kingdom” in Uyo

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Uyo Zonal office has arrested 24 suspected internet fraudsters undergoing training at a “Hustle Kingdom (HK)” the street name for training academies for internet fraudsters,  in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State.

The raid, conducted on Monday, January 22, 2024, targeted a storey building in the D-Line Ewet Housing Estate believed to be a hideout for training aspiring “Yahoo boys,” a Nigerian term for internet fraudsters, according to EFCC in a statement.

According to the EFCC, its officials stormed the building and apprehended all 24 suspects, who were found occupying the upper floor, which had been converted into a makeshift classroom.

The all-male suspects were arrested in two locations in an intelligence-driven sting operation at D-Line Ewet Housing Estate and Nelson Mandela area both in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State,” EFCC stated.

The building is allegedly being used solely for the training of youths in various aspects of cyber criminality.”

The room, according to the anti-graft agency, was equipped with chairs, tables, laptops, and notepads on each table, resembling a traditional educational setting repurposed for illegal activities.

It added that five exotic cars, 18 laptops, 17 mobile phones, and one internet router were found on the premises and with the suspects.

“The suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” EFCC assured.

NNPCL Unearths over 80 Bunkering Sites in 1 week

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited; NNPCL said it has in the space of 1 week discovered about 83 illegal refineries in the Niger Delta region.

This is according to a post on the official handle of NNPCL, adding that 15 illegal pipeline connections were also discovered within the same period.

“In the past week, 15 illegal pipeline connections and 83 illegal refineries have been uncovered in the Niger Delta,” the NNPCL said.

it was disclosed that between January 6 and 12, a total of 211 incidents of oil theft and vandalism were reported.

Seven cases of vandalism were recorded including a wellhead in the Umuajuloke community in Rivers State.

In Owerri, it was said that an active wellhead was found with several illegal connections.

It was also learnt that nine cases of oil spills were recorded in the week, mostly caused by vandalism, adding that Ogboinbiri in Bayelsa State has been ruined by oil spills.

83 illegal connections were spotted in Rivers, Abia, Imo and Bayelsa States.

“In Abia, a drone shot showed pockets of illegal refineries in Owaza, while illegal oil connections were discovered in Olodiama, Bayelsa State and Obuzor in Abia State,” the NNPCL informed.
