Akwa Ibom State Governor Calles for Equitable Spread of Appointments in LGAs

The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor UMO ENO, has urged the newly- inaugurated Chairmen of Local Government Councils in the state to liaise with leaders and stakeholders in their areas to ensure equitable spread of the appointments of Supervisory Councillors across the various wards of their area.

Governor ENO made the call while addressing supporters who thronged Ikot AkpaEkop, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, to receive him while visiting the InyangEkpewo family, to officially inform them of the demise of his wife and First Lady, Pastor PATIENCE UMO ENO, who, until her death, was a member of the family.

The Governor said an equitable spread of political appointments will ensure harmony at the grassroots and engender a sense of belonging and a spirit of ownership.

Speaking of his bereavement, Governor UMO ENO thanked God for the legacies of his late wife, describing her as a blessing to his life whose memories, he pledged to sustain throughout his life.

He therefore assured Mkpat Enin people that he would complete all pending projects in the area and even initiate more as a gesture of his continuous respect for the marriage relationship, especially to honour the memory of the late First Lady.

NNPCL Raises Pump Price to N1,030 Per Litre

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has raised its pump price of petrol in Abuja and other part of the country by 14.8 per cent to 1,030 naira per litre from 897 naira.

The latest price increase makes it the second time the petrol price has been hiked in the past month. The company had in September increased pump price from 615 naira per litre to 897 naira.

The recent development came after the NNPCL decided to terminate its exclusive purchase agreement with Dangote Refinery.

Federal Government Reveals Plans for Korean Investors to Build Refineries In Nigeria

The Federal Government has revealed plans for a consortium of investors from South Korea to build four 100,000-barrel capacity refineries in various locations in Nigeria.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), HEINEKEN LOKPOBIRI, stated this at the maiden edition of a summit organised by the Crude Oil Refineries Owners Association of Nigeria in Lagos.

According to him, the Federal Government is encouraging investors to build refineries by providing an open environment for all.

Reacting to this development, an oil and gas expert, Dr WISDOM ENANG commended the efforts, adding that Nigeria will be self-sufficient with the advantage of exporting petroleum products to other countries.

Dr WISDOM ENANG also expressed concern over what he described as the critical factors of such investment namely, the supply situation, marketability, scalability of the business, profitability and socio-political stability of the country.

Considering the supply situation of the products, he expressed worry over Nigeria’s capacity to provide sufficient crude for the additional investors.

Federal Government Launches CNG Portal gocng.ng

In the meantime, the Federal Government has launched an application portal for Nigerians willing to convert their vehicles from the use of petrol to Compressed Natural Gas -CNG.

This was contained in a statement issued by the National Orientation Agency titled Payment plan to make it easier to switch to CNG.

According to the statement, Nigerians who wished to make the switch to CNG could apply on the portal and spread payments in monthly installments.

The statement also highlighted flexible payment plans, noting that applicants will receive support through the process to ensure it is hassle-free.

The Agency urged interested persons to visit the website gocng.ng to make the applications.
