Nathaniel Bassey to Perform at Donald Trump’s Prayer Breakfast

Nigerian gospel artist, NATHANIEL BASSEY, is set to minister at the inaugural presidential prayer breakfast for the United States, US, President-elect, DONALD TRUMP.

 

The prayer breakfast would hold on January 20 at the prestigious Waldorf Astoria Presidential Ballroom in Washington DC and is hosted by Reverend MERRIE TURNER.

 

BASSEY disclosed this via his Instagram page, while sharing a poster of the event.

 

According to reports, the US Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast is a non-political, faith-based event held every four years before the swearing-in of a new administration. It focuses on prayer and worship as spiritual support for the US government and presidency.

 

The event features a lineup of distinguished speakers, including Dr. ALVEDA KING and Pastor MARIO BRAMNICK, ahead of the swearing-in of TRUMP and Vice President-elect JD VANCE.

SERAP Urges NNPCL Boss to Account for N825b Refinery Rehabilitation Funds

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), MELE KYARI to account for and explain the whereabouts of the alleged missing 825 billion naira meant for refinery rehabilitation.

SERAP also called on MELE KYARI to account for other oil revenues, as documented in the 2021 annual report by the Auditor-General of the Federation, published on Thursday 27 November 2024.

The organisation urged KYARI to identify those suspected to be responsible for the disappeared oil money and hand them over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In a letter signed by SERAP deputy director KOLAWOLE OLUWADARE, the group urged the NNPCL Boss to formally invite former president OLUSEGUN OBASANJO to tour Nigeria’s refineries and to extend the invitation to the EFCC and ICPC to monitor the operations of the refineries, and any spending on them, including the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries.

President Tinubu to Depart for Ghana Ahead of John Mahama’s Inauguration

President BOLA TINUBU will depart Lagos today for Accra, Ghana, to attend the inauguration of President-elect JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA.

The inauguration is billed to hold on January 7 in Accra, the capital of the Republic of Ghana. TINUBU was invited to the event by the incoming President, MAHAMA.

Recall that MAHAMA, who had previously served as the 12th President of Ghana between 2011 and 2017, found his way back to power through an election in December 2024. He is to succeed President NANA AKUFFO-ADDO (2017-2025).

A statement by TINUBU’s media aide BAYO ONANUGA noted that MAHAMA and the Nigerian President have a longstanding personal relationship, akin to what Nigeria and Ghana shares through their bilateral relationship.

The statement also noted that TINUBU, as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, will join other African leaders at the ceremony.

Governor Umo Eno to Hold Town Hall Meetings Across 10 Federal Constituencies in 2025

Akwa Ibom state Governor, Pastor UMO ENO has said that fromFebruary 2025, the town hall meetings in federal constituencies of the state will begin in earnest.

The Governor was speaking at the State’s Special Inter-Denominational New Year Thanksgiving Covenant Service held in at the Worship center yesterday.

Recall that during the inter-ministerial briefing held in December 2024, the Pastor ENO had hinted that town hall meetings will be prioritized to encourage increased access to community members at the grass root and to stay in tuned with the need of citizens.

Governor UMO ENO at the service asked the community leaders across party lines to meet ahead of the town halls, for adequate planning on how to show up at the grass root engagement.

The Governor while also announcing his plans to empower small and medium enterprises across the ten federal Constituencies of the state urged Entrepreneurs to upload a two minute video of their businesses to a platform that will be launched later this week.

He highlighted that the businesses per a local government will be supported with a grant of five million naira each.

The Governor added that he will be holding three major summits and conferences this year, maintaining that the deputy governor, Sen. AKON EYAKENYI will be heading the committee.
