Governor Umo Eno Fires Ibom Power MD

the Managing Director of Ibom Power Company Limited, Engineer MEYEN ETUKUDO  has been relieved of his appointment and asked to hand over to the Commissioner for Power in the state.

Information on Engineer ETUKUDO’s sack was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, PRINCE ENOBONG UWAH.

The statement noted that the Commissioner for Power will oversee the company till further notice.

It also indicated that the Governor, Pastor UMO ENO expresses his gratitude to the Managing Director for his services to the state, wishing him success in his future endeavor.

Yesterday, the former Manager Director had notified Akwa Ibom residents about the cause of the power outage in the state, revealing that this was due to lack of gas supply from Savannah Energy to the power plant, as a result of unresolved issues.

Federal Government to Complete Digitization of 774 LGA HQs by 2027

The Federal Government says it will complete the digitisation of the 774 Local Government headquarters across the 36 states by 2027.

The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr BOSUN TIJANI, while speaking at a stakeholders’ retreat on Project 774 Connectivity in Abuja, explained that the project would be executed in collaboration with other agencies under the ministry’s purview.

TIJANI stated that one of the key objectives of the project was to foster inclusive development and provide access to digital public infrastructure in government offices throughout Nigeria, including the most remote areas that may have previously been underserved or un-served.

Ondo2024: Inspector General of Police Bars Escorts From Polling Booths

As electorates in Ondo state gear up to vote in the gubernatorial election holding tomorrow, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), KAYODE EGBETOKUN, has banned security aides and escorts from accompanying VIPs into polling booths and collation centres, during the governorship election.

The Force Public Relations Officer, OLUMUYIWA ADEJOBI, issued a statement on Thursday stating that EGBETOKUN has implemented comprehensive security measures, to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and credible election.

The statement noted that all movements on roads, waterways, and other means of transportation are restricted from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday in the state except for those on essential services. The election is slated  for Saturday, November 16, 2024.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had commenced the distribution of sensitive materials to various local government areas of Ondo State in the course of the week.

Former COAS Lt. General Lagbaja Laid to Rest Today

The late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TAOREED LAGBAJA will be laid to rest today.

The Nigerian Airforce plane NAF 918 carrying the body of the late COAS landed at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, at around 12:15pm.

The remains of the late COAS left the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos around 11am yesterday and landed in Abuja, where he will be buried.

Upon arrival at the Abuja airport, a guard of honor was accorded to the body of the late COAS which will be interned at the national military cemetery Abuja.

Late LAGBAJA’s death was announced last week by President BOLA TINUBU, who was said to have passed on as a result of a brief illness.
