Governor Udom Sacks SA On Grassroots Mobilization, Enefiok Ekefre

Governor Udom Emmanuel has dismissed Elder Enefiok Akpaedu Ekefre as the Honorary Special Adviser on Grassroots Mobilization.

The Termination of Elder Ekefre’s services with the Akwa Ibom State Government was terminated with effect from March 1, 2022.

A letter dated February 22,2022, signed by the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Dr. Nathaniel Adiakpan, reads in part,
“I am directed to inform you that with effect from 1st March, 2022, your services will no longer be required.”

“With this letter, your offer of appointment as Honorary Special Adviser, Grassroots Mobilization in the service of the Akwa Ibom State Government is hereby withdrawn.”

Reports from several quarters indicates that the sack is not unconnected to Elder Ekefre’s public Romance with the ambitions of Senator Bassey Albert.

It would be recalled that the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Ephraim Inyangeyen was also fired on the same day, via widely publicised letter, from the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem.

Ephraim Inyangeyen’s sack was premised on the basis of incompetence and lack of skills set to march the momentum of development in the State in peace.

Tension in APC Over Reports of Leadership Change as Security Men Cordon National Secretariat

Men of the Security agencies have cordoned the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Nation’s Capital;Abuja, preventing staff and party members, and members of the public from gaining access. Access roads leading to the secretariat have also been closed.

This latest development, is not unconnected with reports suggesting that President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the immediate removal of chairman of the party’s national caretaker committee and Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni.

According reports, Niger State governor, Sani Bello, had been asked to take over party affair in the interim.

However, secretary of the national caretaker committee, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, in reaction to the reports denied any change of leadership in the party, describing it as fake news.

He stated in a statement: “Our attention has been drawn to sponsored media reports on an imaginary leadership change in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC).”

“The media report is fake news and should be disregarded. The APC is a progressive political party guided by rules. Leadership changes are not announced by ‘sources’ through name dropping in the media.

Nigeria Labour Congress NLC Match on National Assembly, Demand Autonomy for Judiciary, Legislature and Local Government.

Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) are leading a protest to the National Assembly, to demand majority votes from the federal lawmakers, ahead of the clause by clause voting on the ongoing constitution amendment process in Abuja.

NLC’s demands are that the lawmakers vote in favour of autonomy for the local government and the judiciary.

They insist that the lack of autonomy for the judicial arm of Government, as well as the local government as the third tier of Government, run contrary to democratic principles.
