Federal Government Set to Tackle Youth Unemployment Through Agriculture, Tech and Entertainment

 Minister of Youth Development, AYODELE OLAWANDE, has revealed the Federal Government’s readiness to organize an aggressive youth engagement initiative to empower young Nigerians in technology, agriculture, and entertainment.

The Minister stated this in an interview with selected Journalist where ADEBAYO SAMUEL represented Inspiration 105.9 FM, noting that the goal is to tackle youth unemployment across the country.

He noted that the long-awaited 2025 Youth Confab will be taken to the local government levels for inclusivity.

According to the Federal Government, the proposed confab is also aimed at creating a pathway for a brighter future for Nigerians.

Akwa Ibom State Info Boss Assures That Umo Eno’s Visit to Tinubu not Political

The commissioner for Information, ANIEKAN UMANAH has described the scorecard presentation by Governor UMO ENO to President BOLA TINUBU, as a well thought out action which represents political inclusivity from the people of Nigeria.

Recall that Governor ENO, on Friday, led a delegation of state stakeholders from across party lines on a courtesy visit to President TINUBU, where he also presented his requests as part of his development projects in the state.

 Speaking on “Matters Arising With Dr. Pam” on Inspiration FM radio, Hon. UMANA highlighted some of the requests presented to the President, such as the provision of resources as well as revenue allocation from federal government to the state as a pathway to increased development in the state.

He further extolled the Akwa Ibom state Governor for the appeal on the Ibom Deep Seaport presented to the President on Sunday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Governor Fubara Accepts Supreme Court Judgement, Sacks LGA Chairmen in Rivers

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has ordered the 23 local government chairmen of the state to hand over to the head of administration of their respective councils.

This is following Supreme Court judgment nullifying the local government election in Rivers State held on October 5, 2024.

Fubara  made the order on Sunday in a short state-wide broadcast stated that following the law banning the use of caretaker committee to administer the third tire of government in Nigeria, the Local Government Heads of Administration being the most senior at the local government should hold forte at the councils until the state Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) conducts fresh election for the local government councils.

On the implant of the other orders made by the Apex Court, the governor stated that his team of lawyers had applied for the certified true copy of the judgment and assured that they will take delivery of the judgment on March 7, 2025 assuring that after studying the judgment he would implement the decisions of the Supreme Court.

Since inception, we have conducted the affairs of government within the framework of our constitution, due process and rule of law. While we are not above mistakes because we are humans, we believe we have not as government done anything deliberately to trample on the rule of law or the hallowed principles of constitutional governance.

“Accordingly, I have had a meeting with my team of lawyers they have assured me that a certified true copy of the judgment may be available to them by Friday the 7th of March, 2025. I assure you that upon the receipt of the certified judgment we shall study the ramifications and implement them without delay to move the state forward.

“I further direct the out- going local government chairmen to formally hand over to Heads of Local Government Administration by Monday 3rd of March, 2025. I urge everyone to remain calm and peacefully go about their legitimate businesses as we continue to do everything within our power to advance responsibilities to the citizens.

The Apex Court also directed the CBN and the Accountant General of the Federation to halt the release of monthly allocation to the state. It further ordered Martin Amaewhula and the 26 other members of the state assembly to resume legislative activities without any further delays, among other orders made by the Supreme Court.

Labour Rejects Plans to Regularize Other Band Tariffs

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has rejected plans by the Federal Government to regularise electricity tariffs for customers for Bands A, B and C.

In a communique released after the National Executive Council (NEC) in Yola, Adamawa State, the labour union vowed to lead mass nationwide protests across Nigeria should the government continue with its plan.

Last Thursday, Minister of Power, ADEBAYO ADELABU, said lower bands would be upgraded to Band A.
