Central Bank Denies Devaluation of The Naira

Contrary to stories that made the news since yesterday, the Central Bank of Nigeria has denied devaluation of the Nigerian Naira. This was made known in a press release made available to Inspiration 105.9 FM, signed by the Acting Director Corporate Communications, Isa Abdulmumin.

The Apex bank described the report as the product of the News writers imaginations, replete with falsehoods and destabilizing innuendoes, showing the Ignorance of those who concocted the said report.

The CBN restated the exchange rate of N465/US$1 at the investors and Exporters window as at June 1, 2023, and asked the general public to disregard the story as it could cause some panic in the money market.

Flying Eagles Soar Over Argentina at Home in FIFA U20 World Cup

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for the quarter-final of the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup,  for the first time in 12 years after defeating host Argentina 2-0 at the Estadio San Juan del Bicentenario in the early hours of Thursday.

2 Second-half goals from Ibrahim Muhammad and Rilwanu Sarki secured a shock win for Ladan Bosso’s team, to ensure their qualification to the joy of many Nigerians.

In the 61st minute, The Flying Eagles broke the deadlock through Emmanuel Umeh when he flicked the ball over the top for Muhammad, who slotted home a low shot past goalkeeper Federico Gerth.

The goal saw Argentina pile the pressure in search of an equaliser and in the process they had 20 shots at goal as against Nigeria’s nine.

Javier Mascherano’s boys came agonisingly close when Luka Romero’s low drive from a distance hit the upright of the post for Daniel Bameyi to put the ball to safety.

In additional time, substitute Victor Eletu came off the bench for Ibrahim Muhammad to make an assist for Haliru Sarki to score Nigeria’s second on the night and secure a famous triumph for Nigeria for the first time in the competition since 2005.

Nigeria’s win on Thursday ended a run of 10 straight U-20 World Cup victories for Argentina.

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has approved the following appointments with immediate effect.

1. Prince Enobong Uwah – Secretary to State Government

2. Mr. Ekerete Udoh – Chief Press Secretary

3. Mr. Anietie Usen – Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity

4. Mr. Otobong Edemidiong – Chief of Protocol

5. Dr. (Mrs.) Uduakobong Inam Economic Adviser

The Swearing in Ceremony of the Appointees took place on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at the Government house, Uyo, Akwa Ibom
