Super Eagles in Uyo to Soar Over Rwanda’s Amavubis

Super Eagles have landed at the Obong Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo ahead of Monday’s Matchday 6 clash in the concluding round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with Rwanda.

The Super Eagles, confirmed group winners, have nothing to chase other than national pride and will play a more relaxed game against the visitors.

Nigeria’s delegation flew from the Ivorian capital, Abidjan, to Uyo aboard a chartered ValueJet aircraft.

Uyo’s magnificent Godswill Akpabio Stadium is the venue, and a carnival atmosphere is expected as the Super Eagles celebrate for 90 minutes and afterwards with the AFCON ticket long in the bag.

Inflation Hits New Heights in October 2024

Food and petrol price hikes have pushed Nigeria’s inflation to 33.88 percent in October 2024, from 32.70 percent recorded in the previous month.

The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, disclosed this on Friday in its Consumer Price Index and Inflation report for October 2024. Looking at the data, month-on-month, Nigeria’s headline inflation rate in October 2024 was 2.64 percent.

This comes as food inflation rose to 39.16 percent in October 2024, from 37.77 percent in September 2024.

The Central Bank of Nigeria’s Inflation Expectation Survey, released on Tuesday, predicted Nigeria’s inflation to rise.

Ondo2024: NSCDC Deploys Personnel for Governorship Election

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Ondo Command, has said that it has deployed 6, 225 of its personnel for today’s Governorship election in Ondo State.

The Deputy Commandant in charge of election, PHILIP AYUBA, said this while briefing newsmen on the level of preparedness of his men for the election. AYUBA said that the mandate of the command is to provide conducive environment for free, fair and credible elections.

The Deputy Commandant, however, warned men and officers of the formation not to undermine the governorship election in the state.

Rivers, Anambra Judges Suspended by NJC

The National Judicial Council (NJC) has suspended G. C. AGUMA, judge of a state high court in Rivers,  and A. O. NWABUNIKE, Anambra state high court judge for alleged judicial misconduct.

According to a statement by the council, both chief judges are barred from performing judicial functions for a period of one year without pay and would be placed on a watch-list for two years thereafter.

The council said the decision was reached at its 107th meeting chaired by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, KUDIRAT KEKERE-EKUN on November 13 and 14.

A total of 5 serving Judicial Officers were sanctioned for various acts of misconduct.

The Council also recommended two Heads of Court for compulsory retirement over falsification of age.
