Presidency Insists on 62,000 Naira Minimum Wage

The Presidency has insisted that the 250,000 naira minimum wage clamour by Organised Labour is unsustainable, warning that the Federal Government cannot channel all its resources to meet such a demand.

The Special Adviser to President BOLA TINUBU on Information and Strategy, BAYO ONANUGA disclosed this after the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria – ALGON raised concerns over the 62,000 naira proposed by the Federal Government.

Replying to this, Mr. ONANUGA maintained that unless the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress were selfish, they should consider that the resources meant for the entire Nigerians could not be channeled to only the benefit of their members who are not more than 10 per cent of the entire population.

Isreali Forces to Relax Military Action in Southern Gaza to Allow Humanitarian Aid

The Israeli military says it will hold a daily tactical pause of military activity along a road in southern Gaza to enable more humanitarian aid to enter, but emphasised that there is no ceasefire and combat would continue in Rafah.

The pauses, which are said to last until further notice will only affect a route that leads northwards from the key Kerem Shalom crossing, which Gaza shares with Israel.

A UN spokesperson welcomed the announcement but said it had not yet translated into more aid on the ground.

Israel has been under continuous pressure from its allies, including the US, to prevent the humanitarian crisis in Gaza from worsening.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Sunday’s announcement follows additional related discussions with the UN and international organizations.
