Anambra State Passes Law to Regulate Burial Activities in the State.

The Anambra State Government has passed a law prohibiting the depositing of corpses in the mortuary or any other place beyond two months from the date of death.

The law was enacted by the Anambra State House of Assembly to control burial and funeral ceremony activities in the state.

Anambra State governor Chukwuma Soludo commended the assembly for the legislation.

“Anambra Burial Law is a very Progressive law to remove the burden and pressure on the poor as well as liberate women from oppressive practices during burials,” Soludo said.

“We celebrate “befitting living” and only a decent funeral.”

By this law, all mortuary attendants are to report to the Ministry of Health of any corpse which has stayed beyond one month from the date it was deposited.

It warned that any person who contravenes the provisions will be fined N100,000 or six months imprisonment or both.

According to the new law, there shall be no public display of caskets for fabrication and sale.

They state that whoever is found guilty will pay a fine of N50,000 or one-month imprisonment or both. Also, the law looked into the registration of burial and funeral ceremonies.

It stipulated that all burial and funeral ceremonies of indigenous deceased persons in the state shall be registered with the town union of the indigenous deceased person.

Also, the registration fee for each burial and funeral ceremony shall be N 1,500.

Also, the new law warned against the blocking of roads and streets during burial ceremonies.

It advised that this can only be done with permission from the appropriate Local Government Authority.

Yul Edochie Shares His Spiritual Journey in First Online Service

Popular Nollywood Actor; Yul Edochie, who recently launched his online ministry, conducted the inaugural church service on his YouTube channel, True Salvation Ministry.

During the virtual gathering held on Sunday, Yul delved into his spiritual journey, sharing his divine calling and the moment he felt God’s direct guidance. Reflecting on instances where others recognized his potential for ministry, he revealed that a life-altering car accident on the Ore road was the turning point that led him to fully embrace his calling.

Following a narrow escape from a fatal outcome, Yul described a transformative experience where a compelling voice urged him to dedicate his life to serving God and humanity. This revelation marked the beginning of his “second life,” distinct from his previous pursuits.

Despite initially aiming for a physical church with a sizable congregation, Yul disclosed that God intervened, guiding him to start humbly and utilise the resources at his disposal.

He said in part, “As far back as 2012, 2013, I’ll meet a couple of men of God, pastors and they will always tell me that you are destined to be a minister of God, you can’t run away from it, you are going to be a minister.

“As time went by I started to hear the voice myself like anywhere I am, most of the time when I’m in an enclosed place, just me, I’ll be hearing that voice telling me you are going to work for God.”

Yul Edochie announced last story week the launch of his Christian programme, True Salvation Ministry, on YouTube, where he will deliver sermons.

Lagos to Kano Train Services Set to Return

The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) has signalled a en epoch making change in rail transportation with the re-launch of Kano to Lagos express train service, known as the 2LL.

After extensive refurbishment and successful test-runs, the rail link is poised to reconnect two of Nigeria’s economic powerhouses.  In the series of test-runs, the 2LL traversed Kano to Minna with empty coaches, arriving at Minna Railway Station to the delight of onlookers. These tests serve to fine-tune the operations ahead of the eagerly anticipated return to service.

The Federal Government’s repair works on the damaged portions of the Minna/Kaduna/Kano railway tracks have reached completion, with the NRC certifying their readiness.

The train, upon its arrival, was welcomed by NRC management staff, including the representative of the Railway District Manager, North Western District, Obafunso Suleimon, and other officials, marking a significant milestone in the restoration process.

“Passengers should expect a luxurious travel experience aboard the 2LL, which has received a full makeover. The coaches have been modernised with top-notch facilities for comfort and style. The train’s overnight stay in Minna before proceeding to Lagos was part of the final preparations to assure the safety and reliability of the Minna to Lagos tracks.”

“We are thrilled by the Federal Government’s commitment, as reflected in the efforts of the Minister of Transportation, Said Alkali, and NRC’s Managing Director, Fidet Okheria, to reinvigorate the railway system for the benefit of the Nigerian populace,” said Suleimon.

The express train’s return is a testament to the government’s dedication to improving the nation’s transportation infrastructure. Out of service for about two years due to various challenges, the 2LL Kano to Lagos train is set to come back under President Bola Tinubu.
