Welcome to Ibom Carols Festival 2024 !!!

The Akwa Ibom State Government hosting the “Ibom Christmas Carol Festival 2024” today.

Scheduled to take place at the 20,000-seater amphitheater, Unity Park, Uyo, the festival will commence at 6:00 pm prompt. This year’s theme is “Peace and Holiness with All Men”.

The award-winning event will feature a diverse lineup of A-list artists, including Minister GUC, David G, Jimmy the Psalmist, Steve Crown, Buchi, Moses Bliss, and many more. The festival will also showcase talented gospel singers, church choirs, and choral groups from within and outside the state.

The Ibom Christmas Carol Festival has been certified by the Guinness Book of World Records since 2014, making it a truly unique and unforgettable experience.

A release by the state government therefore enjoins Akwa Ibomites and visitors not to miss this opportunity to connect with God through songs, chants, and worship.

Barrister Christopher Ekpo Calls for Caution Over Social Media Usage

A foremost Legal Practitioner in Akwa Ibom, Barrister CHRISTOPHER EKPO has called on Nigerians to be mindful of what they post on social media platforms, warning that any content capable of making people to have bad opinion about another has both Civil and Criminal implications.

Barrister CHRIS gave the warning while commenting on the defamation cases between a legal luminary and founder of AfeBabalola University Ado Ekiti, AFE BABALOLA and activist lawyer DELE FAROTIMI.

Recall that the police in Ekiti State, last week, arraigned FAROTIMI, after Mr BABALOLA complained that the activist lawyer defamed him in his book, entitled ‘Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System’.

Speaking on the need to avoid Legal risks online, Barrister CHRIS advised social media users to be cautious of what they publish as contents.

Speaking further, the Legal Practitioner emphasized the need for people to be fair in their writings.

Kemi Badenoch Knocks Labour for Withdrawing Discrimination Case by Rap Group

Conservative Party leader KEMI BADENOCH has said it is unbelievable that the Labour government have decided to no longer contest a discrimination case brought by Belfast rap group Kneecap.

The group won its case against the UK government over a decision BADENOCH took when she was a minister to withdraw an arts grant.

The group was awarded 14,250 pounds, the same amount they were initially granted.

A government spokesperson said the decision was made not to continue contesting the band’s challenge as they do not believe it is in the public interest. But BADENOCH described the move as yet another cowardly decision after giving away the Chagos Islands.

Anikulapo Season to Set for Netflix

Nigerian Filmmaker and Actor; Kunle Afolayan has announced the renewal of the second season of his popular series “Anikulapo” on Netflix.

Afolayan broke the news on his Instagram account on Monday, October 7, revealing that production for the new season took place in Oyo State and Ghana.

The upcoming season promises to explore more captivating narratives grounded in Nigerian history and culture.

Afolayan expressed his excitement, stating, “We’re overjoyed that Netflix has renewed Anikulapo for another season. We take pride in telling our stories authentically, and this series is a powerful reflection of Nigerian culture and history. This season will explore the complex realities of the slave trade, with actors from Portugal, Ghana, and Nigeria, showing the global connections in our history.

“Filming in Oyo State and Ghana helped us ground the story in places rich with our heritage. We’re excited to continue sharing this journey with the world and celebrating the depth of our culture.”

The second season will feature returning actors, including Sola Shobowale, Gabriel Afolayan, Owobo Ogunde, and Bimbo Ademoye, alongside new cast members such as Saga, Kie Kie, Abija, Antar Laniyan, and Saheed Balogun.

“Anikulapo” initially premiered in 2022, followed by “Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre,” which was released on March 1, 2024, as a Netflix original seasonal film.

A release date for the second season is yet to be announced.
