Project Alert Tackles Sexual Violence in Academic Institutions Through Advocacy Programme

In collaboration with African Women Development Fund (AWDF), Project Alert is initiating an advocacy strategy to address the spate of Sexual violence in Academic Institutions across Akwa Ibom state.

In this regard, PROJECT ALERT , a non-governmental organization that intervenes for women who are hit by sexual violence and other forms of abuse, has kick started the process with research to ascertain the enormity of the problem.

The organization aims to gather adequate Information through its investigations to ensure the intervention against Sexual violence in schools is data driven.

The process has commenced in earnest as advocates against violence and abuse deliberated areas to focus the investigations during a one day Research Methodology Workshop in Uyo on Tuesday April 26, 2022.

Ibeno Local Government Area Declares Dusk Till Dawn Curfew

Following the violent clash between Yoruba community and Indigenes of Mkpanak group of communities which  resulted in the loss of lives and properties, on the 20th of April, 2022. The executive chairman Ibeno local government have declared a DUSK TILL DAWN CURFEW ( From 7pm to 6am) in the local government with immediate effect.
Sequel to the above, human and vehicular moment is hereby prohibited in any part of the local government while security agencies have been put on the alert to enforce this order and anyone found during this hours will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.

Offiong Offor Sets Food Sufficiency in Akwa Ibom as Goal of The Ministry of Agriculture.

The newly appointed Commissioner for Agriculture; Akwa Ibom state, Dr Offiong Offor has charged management and staff of the ministry to sustain the tempo of performance which the ministry is known for in order to achieve the food sufficiency policy of Mr Udom Emmanuel’s administration.

Dr Offor who gave the charge during a familiarization meeting with Permanent Secretary, Directors and senior staff members  of the ministry and extension services officers promised to be responsive to the welfare of staff and diligent to the task ahead.

She commended her predecessor, Dr Glory Edet for landmark achievements in the Ministry under her supervision as Commissioner.

Presenting the Commissioner to members of staff, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Mary Ukoette lauded the governor for appointing another capable hand to replace the out gone Commissioner.

Other speakers including the Director Administration, Mr. Ifiok Udoh; Programme Manager AKADEP, Mr Ema Ekanem; Zonal Director, Dr Emmanuel; Mr Ime Akpadiaha for Senior Staff all pledged loyalty and cooperation to the Commissioner to achieve set goals in the ministry.

The Commissioner was taken round units and departments of the ministry as she reports for duty.
