Association of Women Living with HIV and Aids (ASWHAN) Plead With Governor Udom to Sign Anti-Stigmatization and Discrimination Bill into Law

Women living with HIV (WLHIV) under the aegis of Association of Women Living with HIV and Aids (ASWHAN) have intensified their plea to the state Governor UDOM EMMANUEL for assent to the Anti –stigmatization and Discrimination Bill for persons who are HIV positive.

The bill was passed by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly on September 30th 2021, and 10 months after, the vulnerable persons mostly affected amongst other stakeholders in the HIV response space await the progression of the bill into a Law which will help enhance the interventions.

In this report, Inspiration FM News features a distressing case involving a (WLHLIV) who se fiancé assaulted and revealed her status via social media to ridicule her, a situation that is a liable offense in Section 28(1) of the anti stigma bill 2020.

Rivers United Lift 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League Trophy as Dakkada Beat Drop on Last Day.

The “Pride of Rivers”; Rivers United have been crowned Winners of the 51st Edition of the Nigeria Professional Football League in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Despite losing their match-day 35 fixture in Lafia, losing 2-1 to Nasarawa United last month, the Port Harcourt-based club retained a 10-point gap at the top of the table after second-place Plateau United suffered a 2-1 defeat at Akwa United the same day. And with just three games left before the end of the season, they were assured of their first-ever league title.

Rivers United ended the season’s campaign with a 1-0 win over Gombe United in Port Harcourt in the presence of the Governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike to finish the season with 77 points from 38 games.

Rivers United will lead the Nigerian Contingent on the African continent with opportunity for exploits in the CAF Champions League, alongside Plateau United while Remo Stars of Ikenne will settle for the last automatic slot in the CAF confederations Cup.

At the Bottm of the table, Dakkada FC of Uyo beat the drop on the last day with a 3-0 Victory over Sunshine stars in Uyo on Match day 38 to condemn MFM, Kano Pillars and Heartland, who all dropped to the Nigerian National League, where they’ll ply their trade next season.

BREAKING: Umana Okon Umana and 6 Others Sworn in as Ministers in President Buhari’s Cabinet

President Muhammadu Buhari has sworn in seven new ministers recently screened and confirmed by the Senate.
The ministers were sworn in two batches of four and three each.
The first batch sworn were Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh of Abia State, Umana Okon Umana of Akwa Ibom State, Odum Odih of Rivers State and Ademola Adewole Adegoroye of Ondo State.
The second batch sworn in were Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub of Kano State, Goodluck Nnana Opiah of Imo State and Egwumakama Joseph Nkama of Ebonyi State.

Before the swearing in, a minute silence was observed in honour of Mohammed Barkindo, the 4th Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC Secretary-General, who died at the age of 63, Tuesday night.

Those physically present were the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo; Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha; and Chief of Staff to the President, Prof Ibrahim Gambari.
Other Ministers who in attendance included the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, Education, Adamu Adamu, Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, Mines, Steel, Olamilekan Adegbite, Environment, Mohammed Abdullahi, Ministers of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, and Budget, National Planning, Clem Agba and State, Industry Trade and Investment, Maryam Katagun.

The Head of the Service of the Federation (HOCSF), Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, and other ministers attended the ceremony remotely.

Uyo Local Government Bans Illegal Motor parks in the Area

The Uyo Local Governement Council Chairman, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo has banned all illegal Motor parks and touting in the Akwa Ibom state Capital. A Statement released on Monday morning reads thus;
ENFORCEMENT OF BAN ON ILLEGAL MOTOR PARKS/TOUTING WITHIN UYO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA
Following His Excellency the Governor’s approval for the handing over of all motor parks to their respective Local Government Areas and the recent formalisation of the process by the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Transport, this is to inform all stakeholders in the transport sector of the enforcement of the ban on all illegal motor parks within Uyo Local Government Area with immediate effect.
Going forward, all those caught in the act will face the full wrath of the law.
Uyo Local Government over the weekend had reactivated all the government owned motor parks within the city and would not take any act of touting lightly.
Already, all the security agencies and enforcement bodies have been fully briefed and directed to deal decisively with defaulters.
The general public is hereby advised to please take note.
