APC Cheiftain Reacts to Pending Defection of Governor Umo Eno

Reactions have persisted following Governor UMO ENO’S planned defection to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

 This comes amid the seeming internal crisis and instability experienced within his party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking with Inspiration FM News, APC Deputy National Welfare Secretary, Dr CHRIS AKPAN, commended the Governor for ensuring there is peace and tranquility in the state in the last two years.

He added that the Governor’s planned defection to the APC is further praised as a wise political decision meant to avoid him being entangled in the internal crisis in the PDP.

Meanwhile, the Governor had said his reason for the impending defection to the APC is to help bring lasting development to the state and connect the state with the power at the centre.

Akwa Ibom Residents Applaud NCC for Charge to TELCOs on Service Disruption

Residents of Uyo Metropolis have commended the directive issued by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), which mandates telecom operators to notify users about major service disruptions.

NCC, in a move aimed at boosting transparency and accountability across the sector, had last week, introduced new rules requiring operators to notify consumers of major network outages and compensate users when service disruptions exceed 24 hours.

Under the new regulations, mobile network operators, internet service providers, and other last-mile service providers must inform consumers of major outages via media channels.

Speaking with Inspiration FM’s correspondents NOENYEUBONG ANDEM and PRECIOUS OFFOR on the development, the Residents expressed frustration over frequent network outages, commending theNigeria’s telecoms regulator for issuing the directives.

According to reports, MTN and Airtel reported five and four incidents, respectively, with disruptions linked to fibre damage in states such as Akwa Ibom,Benue, Imo, Bayelsa, and Abia.

The Uyo Residents emphasized that the disclosure of the cause of the outage, affected areas, and the estimated time for service restoration will help consumers prepare well and not be stranded.

Etinan Community Decries Lack of Development, Appeals for State Government Intervention

Residents of Ikot Inyang Osom and Ekpenne communities in Etinan Local Government Area appealing for intervention regarding the persistent lack of electricity in theirareas.

They expressed concerns that the absence of reliable power supply has severely disrupted local businesses, hindering economic activities and affecting their livelihoods.

In an interview with Inspiration FM News, the community members revealed that multiple requests have been submitted to the power holding company for the installation of a transformer. Unfortunately, these appeals have yet to receive any positive response, leaving the communities in prolonged darkness.

The residents call on the Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area, UKO UMOH, to address their concerns promptly and facilitate the restoration of electricity to improve living conditions and revive local commerce.

 

As the ongoing power outage in Ikot Inyang Osom and Ekpenne communities continues to pose significant challenges to daily life and economic stability. Immediate action by relevant authorities is essential to restore electricity and support the wellbeing and development of these communities.

Peace Returns to NAPPS in Akwa Ibom

the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools – NAPPS in Akwa Ibom State has successfully resolved a prolonged leadership dispute that had caused division within the association.

In a significant move towards unity, the current chairman, Elder NSEOBONG UDOIDIONG, has voluntarily stepped down from his position, paving the way for a new leadership headed by Mr. RAYMOND IBUKHO to steer the association forward.

Trouble started on the 6th of October, 2023 when the association held its elective congress. There, RAYMOND IBUKHO – a candidate for the post of state chairman was disqualified from contesting; a decision that some members considered unjust.

Although the election observers declared elder NSEOBONG UDOIDIONG winner of the chairmanship poll, the association has never remained the same; as members deserted the association in protest of injustice.

Speaking in Uyo, ElderUDOIDIONGnoted that the decision to resolve the conflict was reached after several rounds of negotiations and consultations among stakeholders.

The resolution of the dispute has been welcomed by key stakeholders of the association.

In Statement jointly signed by the outgone Chairman, Elder NSEOBONG UDOIDIONG, Secretary, Reverend SOLOMON OTOYO and Vice Chairman, JOSEPH EMEH, the Association called on all members who have left as a result of the crises to return now that peace has been restored.
