AD FILES PETITION TO STOP SANWOLU’S SWEARING IN

The governorship candidate of the Alliance for Democracy in the 2019 election, Chief OWOLABI SALIS has filed a petition at the Lagos State Governorship Electoral Tribunal to stop the inauguration of Mr. BABAJIDE SANWO-OLU as the Executive Governor on May 29.

 

The Petition has the Alliance for Democracy as co-petitioner.

 

The petition alleges that SANWO-OLU has a criminal record in the US and unsound mind and therefore should be disqualified by the Tribunal from being sworn-in as Governor.

 

INEC, SANWO-OLU, All Progressives Congress and the INEC Residential Electoral Commissioner are listed as respondents to the Petition.

PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALLERS ASSOCIATION SET TO GATHER EVIDENCE OF RACIST ONLINE ABUSE

Players have been asked to send evidence of racist online abuse to the Professional Footballers’ Association to demonstrate to governing bodies the severity of the issue.

 

Following Friday’s 24-hour social media boycott by professional footballers, the PFA wants continued player support and has set up an email address to allow union members to report racism.

 

 

The PFA is preparing to take its anti-racism message to social media sites, including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, and is in the process of arranging meetings for next month.

 

According to the PFA, more than 90 million people were reached by the first stage of the #Enough campaign, with David Beckham, Eden Hazard and Dele Alli among those joining last week’s social media boycott.

SENATE SUMMONS ACTING IG ADAMU ON SECURITY SITUATION

The Senate has summoned the acting Inspector General of Police MOHAMMED ADAMU to brief Lawmakers at Plenary on the security situation in the country.

 

The senate is particular about what the police is doing to address the rampant kidnappings and banditry across the country.

 

The Senate is inviting the Acting IG of Police after a debate on the killings of two humanitarian workers and the abduction of three others at Kajuru Castle in Kaduna state on April 19.

 

The Upper Chamber is asking the federal government to set up an inter-agency task force to tackle cases of banditry and kidnapping in Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara and Niger states.
