LAGOS ASSEMBLY PASSES 2019 APPROPRIATION BILL INTO LAW

The Lagos state House of Assembly passed the state’s 2019 appropriation bill of 873.532 billion Naira for 2019, barely a month to the end of Governor AKINWUNMI AMBODE’stenure.

 The approval came more than 80 days after the governor presented the appropriation bill of 852.316 billion Naira on February 5, to the state assembly.

The passage followed the adoption of the report and recommendations of the house committee on budget and economic planning, headed by GBOLAHAN YISHAWU, APC-Eti-Osa II.

The house approved 393,841,387,020 Naira from the consolidated revenue fund for recurrent expenditure and 479,691,073,705 Naira from development revenue fund for capital expenditure.

Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, ABDULAZIZ YARI, has urged incoming governors to brace up for another cycle of recession that will hit the country soon. 

Governor YARI made this know during the induction of the newly-elected and returning governors in Abuja.

The governor of Zamfara State made it clear that there is a possibility of a recession by the mid-2020 till third quarter of 2021.

PRESIDENT BUHARI PRESENTS AWARDS TO 168 EX-CORPS MEMBERS

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has presented awards to 168 ex-corps members at the combined 2015/2016/2017 President’s NYSC Honours Award held at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja.

 

The President, who was represented by Vice President Professor YEMI OSINBAJO, also announced automatic employment to the awardees in the Federal Civil Service and scholarships up to Doctorate level in any Nigerian universities.

 

A former Head of State, YAKUBU GOWON, who created the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 1973, was also in attendance.

 

About 15 ex-corps members who suffered disability during their service year were also recognised under the NYSC Hope Alive programme.

ARMY RESCUES THREE KIDNAPPED VICTIMS IN BENUE STATE

Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE have rescued  three kidnapped victims in a building located at GANAfamily compound at Gbise in Katsina-Ala local government area of Benue.

 

According to a statement by the Director of Defense Information, Colonel ONYEMA NWACHUKWU, the victims, a man and two women were rescued during a raid in the early hours of Friday.

 

The raid occurred when the troops stormed a building reportedly belonging to a notorious bandits’ leader, GANA.

 

It added that the victims claimed they were abducted about two months ago at Gboko by a gang of kidnappers and subsequently relocated to Gbise community.
