Buhari To Critics: You Are Not Patriotic

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has replied those who accused him of not doing enough to tackle the widespread insecurity in the country.

In an open letter on Monday, Former President OLUSEGUN OBASANJO criticised BUHARI’S government, saying killings must not be swept under the carpet, just as Nobel laureate, WOLE SOYINKA called for a national conference to address the killings in the country by suspected herdsmen.

OBASANJO said the rate at which things were going; Nigeria could experience a situation similar to Rwanda where there was genocide in 1994.

But speaking with national executives of the Buhari Campaign Organisation at Aso Rock today, the president, who did not specifically mention a name, said those criticising the “isolated cases” of insecurity in the country are not patriotic.

BUHARI said every country in the world is facing one security challenge or the other, adding that banditry and kidnapping happen across the world.

Ahmad Ahmad Investigated by FIFA for Fraud

Embattled CAF president Ahmad Ahmad is currently swimming trouble waters as FIFA continues to investigates allegations leveled against him. Recent reports revealed that Mr Ahmad received two sets of expenses, claiming to be in two different countries, for the same nine-day period during the 2018 World Cup held in Russia.

According to documents, the FIFA vice-president twice claimed for payments from African football’s ruling body, CAF, for work carried out between 23 June and 1 July.

The documents indicated he signed for daily allowances citing his location to be Egypt for time in review – before later appending his signature to a document which affirmed he was in Russia at the same time.

As a vice-president of football’s world governing body, Mr Ahmad should have been paid his daily World Cup allowance of $450 by FIFA since they organise the tournament – meaning he may have received three sets of payments for the nine-day spell in question.

CAF, whose headquarters are in the Egyptian capital Cairo, has no role in organising the event.

In June, FIFA and CAF announced that Secretary General of CAF would be detailed to oversee administrative reform in the governance of African football’s ruling body from 1 August, which places Senegalese Fatma Samoura as a General Delegate to CAF the first in the 115-year history of FIFA, which has never had recourse before to help guide the administration of a confederation.

Mr Ahmad, who took charge of African football in March 2017, is currently being investigated by both Fifa’s Ethics Committee itself and by French anti-corruption authorities – with an unusual kit deal involving a French gym equipment supplier among the lines of inquiry.

Although Ahmad Ahmad has denied any wrongdoing, He has stated clearly that his answers are reserved for the Ethics Committee only.

Atiku says tribunal did not reject PDP’s request for access to INEC’s server

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar has said the presidential election tribunal did not reject his request to inspect the server of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

He spoke in reaction to a statement from the presidency describing the judgement of the tribunal as victory against propaganda.

According to the former vice-president, the tribunal only ruled that the request being sought is not relevant at its current stage of hearing.

A statement by Atiku’s spokesman, Paul Ibe said the last has not been heard of the matter as they eagerly anticipate the actual ruling of the tribunal when the case begins properly.
