Bayelsa State Governor Presents N310 billion 2022 Budget of Sustainable Growth
Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State has presented the 2022 budget estimates of N310, 717,608,353.00 Billion Naira to the State House of Assembly for consideration.
The 2022 budget is tagged,” Budget of Sustainable Growth.”
The State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure was allocated the highest figure of N51 billion naira for capital project followed by Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources which had N12 billion naira. N4billion is the proposed figure for Education.
Because of drop in allocation, the revenue projection is slightly lower than the 2021 Budget by N19 billion indicating a reduction of about 3.54%.
The Governor who was accompanied to the presentation by the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, also said the 2021 budget had a great performance and that many projects and achievements were recorded in various sectors including education, roads, and agriculture.
“The projects include:
• Construction of Unity Bridge in Nembe
• Construction of Elebele Bridge in Ogbia
• Dualization and Re-designing of the Tombia Round-about
• Construction of the Sagbama/Ekeremor Road.
• Construction of Yenagoa – Oporoma Road.
• Construction of AIT – Igbogene Outer Ring Road.
• Construction of Igbedi Road
• Construction of Glory Drive – just to mention a few
“Mr. Speaker, our Prosperity Government is also formulating a 30-year long-term development plan for the State, may I now proceed with a summary of the 2022 Appropriation Bill tagged “BUDGET OF SUSTAINABLE GROWTH”.
In concluding, Mr. Speaker, I will not stop thanking God for His infinite mercies and the good people of Bayelsa State for their continuous support, patience, sacrifices and the goodwill they have extended to our Government. We are determined to continue to build confidence in our people by being proactive in the formulation and implementation of our policies.”

Newcastle United Axe Steve Bruce
New owners of Newcastle United have sacked head coach Steve Bruce. This was made known in a release on the Club’s official website.
Steve Bruce was expected to be replaced after the Saudi Arabian-backed consortium, led by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), completed a £305m takeover of Newcastle on October 7.
The Manager was in charge for the 3-2 defeat to Tottenham which left the team one spot shy of the bottom of the English Premier League table- His 1000th game as a Manager. The game had non-executive chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan and director Amanda Staveley in attendance at St James’ Park.
Newcastle said the process of recruiting a new head coach is underway, as former Roma boss Paulo Fonseca has emerged as a top contender.
The club are expected to hold talks with Fonseca this week.
Graeme Jones will lead the team on an interim basis, starting with Saturday’s trip to Crystal Palace.
Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Invites Mkpat Enin Local Government Secretary for Investigative Session
The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has invited Mkpat Enin LGA Secretary to the next investigative session on Friday, 22nd October, 2021 at the Assembly Complex for obstructing the Councillors from serving the Chairman a petition.
The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs had on Monday, 18th October, 2021 held a session to investigate a matter on financial impropriety and gross misconduct instituted against the Chairman, Mkpat Enin LGA, Mr Anieokpon Eno Ekpo by the Councillors in the Local Government Area.
However, Mr Anieokpon Ekpo responded that he had not been served the petition therefore, did not know the content of the said document.
The Committee Chairman, Mr Mark Esset had directed the Clerk of the Committee to serve the Mkpat Enin local government council Chairman a copy of the letter whilst the Chairman, Anieokpon Ekpo should reply the petition on or before today, Wednesday, 20th October, 2021.
