Presidency Makes Fresh Appointments Into Climate Change Commission

President BOLA TINUBU has approved the appointment of Dr. NKIRUKA MADUEKWE as the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC) on interim capacity, pending the confirmation of her appointment by the NCCC Supervisory Council.

 

According to a statement by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, AJURI NGELALE, the appointment is in line with TINUBU’s commitment to actualize Nigeria’s green industrial vision, boost investor confidence, and unlock sustainable economic value through various climate finance instruments.

 

The President also approved that Dr. MADUEKWE is to serve as the Co-Chairperson of the Intergovernmental Committee on National Carbon Market Activation Plan (NCMAP).

 

Also, TINUBU appointed Mr. IBRAHIM SHELLENG as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Climate Finance & Stakeholder Engagement, while Mr. OLAMIDE FAGBUJI is to serve as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Climate Technology and Operations.

Federal Government Unveils Plans for June 12

the Federal Government has unveiled a series of events to mark this year’s Democracy Day.

 

The details were unveiled in a notice issued by ABDULHAKEEM ADEOYE on behalf of the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

 

The celebration will commence on Tuesday, June 11, with a symposium at the State House Conference Centre, Presidential Villa, Abuja, at 9am and followed by a youth conference at LadiKwali Hall, Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja, at 6:00pm.

 

On Wednesday, June 12, the events will feature a grand parade at Eagle Square, Abuja, starting at 8:00am. The day will conclude with a dinner at the State House Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja, at 6:00pm.

Governor Umo Eno Felicitates Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly on 1st Year Anniversary

Governor UMO ENO has sent his message of felicitation, as the Speaker of the Eight Assembly, Rt. Hon. UDEME OTONG and Members of the State House of Assembly celebrate their First Legislative Year.

 

In a goodwill message released by his Chief Press Secretary, EKERETE UDOH, Governor UMO ENO celebrated the robust collaboration that has existed between the Executive and the Legislative arms of government.

 

He noted that in the past one year, the House has cooperated with the executives as a reliable partner in their determined efforts to bring development to the state, especially in the rural areas.

 

The governor lauded the eight assembly for working expeditiously to pass people – centric bills to advance growth and development in line with the ARISE Agenda which today, have become laws.

 

Governor UMO ENO also commended the House for passing the 2024 Budget in a record time, adding that the executives will always count on them to continue on this path of robust partnership in the service of the State and the Akwa Ibom people in their Second Legislative Year.

President Tinubu Orders Wage Bill Calculation in 48 Hours

President BOLA TINUBU giving the Minister of Finance, WALE EDUN, a 48-hour ultimatum to come up with the cost implications on the new minimum wage.

 

This was revealed by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, MOHAMMED IDRIS.

 

IDRIS stated this while briefing State House Correspondents after the negotiation team had a meeting with the President at Aso Rock.

 

Meanwhile, the Organised Labour have vowed to reject any lean addition to the 60,000 naira offer by the tripartite committee on the new minimum wage.

 

The President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), FESTUS OSIFO stated this after the Organised Labour comprising the TUC and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) suspended its industrial action which started on Monday.

 

Recall that NLC and TUC called off the strike for one week, to enable further negotiations with the Federal Government.

 

The Unions had noted that failure on the part of the government to conclude with labour within one week shall prompt the organised labour to resume the strike without further notice.
