As Akwa Ibom marks her 37th anniversary today, youths of Uyo metropolis have called on the State Government to do more in the area of youth development by building industries in the state.
Akwa Ibom, which was created on September 23, 1987  from the southwestern third of Cross River state combined the Uyo, Ikot Ekpene, Eket and Abak divisions of old Calabar province.
The State is bordered on the east by Cross River State, on the west by Rivers State and Abia State, and on the South by the Atlantic Ocean and was named after the Qua Iboe River.
It  is currently the highest oil and gas producing state in the country and, has so far recorded giant strides in Infrastructural and human development, aviation among others.
However, despite this achievement, some youth in the Uyo metropoliscomplained that at 37, the state is not able to boast of industries that can create employment for the youth, so as to alleviate hardship.
