July 27, 2024 Akwa Ibom State Government Begins Distribution of Palliatives To the Vulnerable

The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor UMO ENO, has launched the distribution of rice, targeting the 2,272 gazetted villages across the ten Federal Constituencies of the State, an initiative aimed at alleviating economic hardship.

At the commencement of the distribution process on Friday, Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. OFFIONG OFFOR, assured that the distribution process would be transparent.

The beneficiaries of the products are expected to be residents in the rural areas, persons living with disabilities and special groups, regardless of their status.

The Commissioner expressed gratitude to Governor ENO for his kind gestures towards indigenous Akwa Ibom people and residents.

Meanwhile, as local government areas take delivery of rice and garri palliatives in their respective localities, Akwa Ibom people have heaped praise on Governor UMO ENO for ensuring a transparent process that has enabled them to benefit from the gesture.

The development followed the distribution exercise of the palliatives at Nsit Attai and Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Areas.

Performing the distribution at Nsit Atai, the Transition Committee Chairman, Lady EMEM IBANGA, expressed gratitude to the Governor and the federal government for putting smiles on the faces of people.

She emphasized that village heads and village council officers have received clear instructions regarding their roles, and the distribution procedure will be transparent.

Also at Ibesikpo Asutan, the transition chairman, Mrs. AKON MICHAEL said the process was smoothly carried out with all the 79 villages getting their share and thanked the Governor for displaying compassion to the people.
