October 13, 2021 Project Alert Speaks on Advocacy Towards Discrimination Against Persons With Disabilities Law

A recent study done by Project Alert shows that over 90% of women in Akwa Ibom living with disabilities have either been abused or have experienced violence. Also, most of these women are young persons.

For Project Alert which has provided interventions for women affected by Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) since 1999, they are also very interested about the plight of women living with disabilities and the issues of SGBV as it affects them.

In this interview, the founder, Barrister Josephine Effah Chukwuma, speaks about efforts and advocacy geared towards the discrimination against persons living with disabilities law, awaiting assent by Governor Udom Emmanuel and how the law can help reduce the level of violence against this category of women.
