May 6, 2025 Akwa Ibomites React to Mass Failure in UTME

following the release of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), residents of Uyo metropolis have expressed concerns over mass failure recorded in the examination.

You will recall that, JAMB yesterday, released a breakdown of the results, where, 983,187 candidates scored between 160 and 199, while, 488,197 candidates scored between 140 and 159.

According to the released result, only 0.24%, that is 4,754 scored 320 and above, while 73,441 candidates scored between 250 and 299.

Speaking with Inspiration FM news, the Residents attributed the poor performance in examination to candidates’ lack of seriousness, rather than issues with the examination board.

The 2025 UTME results comes amid increasing scrutiny of Nigeria’s education system and underscore the need for ongoing reforms to improve student preparedness and institutional accountability.
