A youth activist, Comrade GEORGE NTA, has expressed disapproval for the planned extension of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) period in Nigeria.
In an interview with Inspiration FM news in Uyo, Nta argued that this move is not a positive development for the country’s youth.
Instead, he suggested that the NYSC management should focus on enhancing the skills of corps members to promote self-reliance.
The Minister of Education, OLATUNJI ALAUSA, had recently proposed extending the mandatory NYSC scheme from one year to two years.
ALAUSA made this call during a courtesy visit by the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, to his office in Abuja.
