the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools – NAPPS in Akwa Ibom State has successfully resolved a prolonged leadership dispute that had caused division within the association.
In a significant move towards unity, the current chairman, Elder NSEOBONG UDOIDIONG, has voluntarily stepped down from his position, paving the way for a new leadership headed by Mr. RAYMOND IBUKHO to steer the association forward.
Trouble started on the 6th of October, 2023 when the association held its elective congress. There, RAYMOND IBUKHO – a candidate for the post of state chairman was disqualified from contesting; a decision that some members considered unjust.
Although the election observers declared elder NSEOBONG UDOIDIONG winner of the chairmanship poll, the association has never remained the same; as members deserted the association in protest of injustice.
Speaking in Uyo, ElderUDOIDIONGnoted that the decision to resolve the conflict was reached after several rounds of negotiations and consultations among stakeholders.
The resolution of the dispute has been welcomed by key stakeholders of the association.
In Statement jointly signed by the outgone Chairman, Elder NSEOBONG UDOIDIONG, Secretary, Reverend SOLOMON OTOYO and Vice Chairman, JOSEPH EMEH, the Association called on all members who have left as a result of the crises to return now that peace has been restored.
