Residents and business owners in Nsukara Offot, Uyo Local Government Area, have expressed deep frustration over what they describe as “outrageous” electricity bills issued by the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company- PHED, despite experiencing little to no power supply.

According to several affected individuals who shared their experiences with our Reporter, LUCY MKPAT, the electricity bills are unjustifiable when compared to the actual supply of electricity they receive.

They lamented that most times, there’s no light at all, and when it comes, it lasts only about few minutes. Yet, at the end of the month, they are slammed with exorbitant bills.

This persistent issue has sparked tension within the community, with some residents reporting that the situation has led to arguments, confrontations, and in some cases, crises among neighbors and business owners struggling to cope.

They emphasized the need for a more reliable power supply to reduce the burden of purchasing petrol to run generators.
