The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has warned parents and guardians against making unfounded allegations against universities over admission decisions, urging them to understand the ranking system used in the selection process.
JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin in a statement, refuted several recent allegations of admission denial, stressing that all decisions are based on merit and transparent ranking through the Central Admissions Processing System, CAPS.
Benjamin cited the case of Mr. Godwin Nsan, who publicly accused the University of Calabar of unfairly denying his son admission.
According to him, when JAMB investigated the case, it found that his son, who scored 201 in UTME with an aggregate of 34 percent, did not meet the institution’s cut-off scores of 55 percent (Merit), 35 percent (Catchment), and 35 percent (Educationally Less Developed States – ELDS).
