The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) has called on the National Assembly to take immediate steps to create five additional states in Nigeria to address regional disparities in the country’s six geopolitical zones.

In a statement signed by its deputy national publicity secretary, Comrade James Ezema, CNPP emphasised that ensuring equity, fairness, and justice in resource distribution is essential for national unity and progress.

The group stressed that correcting the imbalance in state distribution would foster national stability and development.

According to the body, each of the six geopolitical zones should have seven states each, based on economic viability and other relevant factors for the new states to be created.
