February 6, 2025 Uyo High Court Sentences University Don to Prison for Electoral Fraud

The High Court sitting in Uyo, has sentenced a Professor of Human Kinetics, Prof. IGNATIUS UDUK to three years in prison for electoral fraud.

You would recall that prof. UDUK was arraigned for abandonment of duties and generation of false scores on March 10, 2019 at the INEC office in Afaha Ikot Ebak, Essien Udim Local Government during the State House of Assembly elections.

He as also charged for announcement and publication of false election result and lying on oath at the inception of the Election Petition tribunal. Delivering the Judgment yesterday, Justice BASSEY NKANANG acquitted prof. UDUK of count 1, but convicted and sentenced him to three years imprisonment each on count 2 and 3, to be served concurrently.

The University Don, who was the collation/returning officer for Essien Udim State constituency in the 2019 general elections, was first arraigned in court by INEC on December 9, 2020.
