February 4, 2025 Akwa Ibom State Government Clarifies Uyo Village Road and Other Contract Awards

Akwa Ibom State government says all contracts executed in the state are awarded through the Finance and General Purpose Committee (FGPC) and approved by the State Executive Council.

This was contained in a press release by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr EKERETE UDOH, in response to an allegation by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that Governor UMO ENO personally handles contracts.

The government dismissed the claims as baseless and reckless, stating that the ADC’s allegations are a desperate attempt to draw attention to itself and mislead the public.

The government addressed several specific claims made by the ADC, including the contract award process, the Uyo Village Road project, and the Arise Compassionate Homes initiative.

Furthermore, the government provided details on the Arise Compassionate Homes initiative, which is executed through direct labor, saying each home is constructed at a gross cost of ₦25 million while the beneficiaries receive N500,000 as seed funds.

The Chief press secretary announced that Governor Umo Eno will be taking legal action against the ADC and its Publicity Secretary, MANFRED EKPE over the issue.
