January 29, 2025 Transmission Company of Nigeria Explains Blackout in Parts of Akwa Ibom

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has explained the reason for the electricity outage experienced in parts of the Akwa Ibom State.

 

According to TCN’s spokesperson, NDIDI MBAH, the outage is due to maintenance of TCN’s 60 Mega Volt Ampere power transformers at the 132/33kV Uyo Transmission Substation.

 

MBAH explained that areas affected by the outage include Abak, Ikot-Ekpene, Afaha Ube, and Idoro. She stated that the power interruption is necessary to ensure a safe working environment for engineers performing the maintenance work.

 

The company’s spokesperson assured that the bulk power supply will be restored immediately upon completion of the maintenance. She added that the outage will affect the distribution of electricity to end-users in the affected areas for the duration of the maintenance period.
