January 25, 2025 UCCDA Sets Up Enforcement Team for Motor Parks and Street Trading

The Uyo Capital City Development Authority (UCCDA) has inaugurated a Special Development Control Enforcement Team (SDCET) to address the challenges facing the capital city.

The team inaugurated by the Chairman of UCCDA, Rt. Hon. ANIETIE EKA, yesterday, is tasked with enforcing development control in line with the Town Planning Laws and Laws of Akwa Ibom State 2022, as amended.

The enforcement team, according to the agency,  will focus on several key areas, including unapproved filling stations, illegal parks and street trading, cemeteries, telecommunication masts and billboards, client service, and estate development.

According to Rt. Hon. EKA, the inauguration of the special team is part of UCCDA‘s efforts to transform Uyo into a smart city, in line with Governor Umo Eno’s Arise Agenda. He noted that the team’s work will focus on addressing challenges such as traffic congestion, compromised safety, and hindered aesthetics, which undermine the city’s potential.

On his part, the Head of Town planning Department, UCCDA, EDIDIONG EDOHO, said the development would bring sanity into the sector while ensuring public safety.

Speaking on behalf of the committee heads, Koffi Ayado, the  Head of Unapproved filling station, Gas Station Outlet Unit assured that the committee will live up-to its expectation.
