The Akwa Ibom State Government has inaugurated a 15-member committee to investigate the conditions of boarding facilities in public secondary and technical schools in the State.
The committee is expected to deliver on the charge of carry out investigations on schools within three weeks and submit its report by December 20, 2024.
The committee has a retired permanent secretary in the State Civil Service, Mr. EKANABASI UBONG as Chairman.
Inaugurating the committee, the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. IDONGESIT ETIEBIET, thanked the committee for accepting the responsibility bestowed on them and urged them to be honest and forthright in their report.
Chairman of the committee, Mr. EKANABASI UBONG in his response assured the state government that the team will carry out the responsibility charged on them.
Commissioner ETIEBET who was flanked by the Chairman, State Secondary Education Board, Dr. EKAETTE EBONG OKON, further sued the committee to propose an action plan for implementing the recommendations, including timelines and responsibilities.
