Residents and Business Owners within the Ikpa Road Axis of Uyo Metropolis have decried the deplorable state of the road, particularly from Uniuyo Annex Gate to the traffic light, also known as Big Daddy Junction.
They maintained that the situation of the road has become a life threatening one, as tricycles frequently fall inside the pool of congested water leaving the Riders and Passengers injured.
Speaking with INSPIRATION FM Correspondent, ENDURANCE OKON, the Residents and Business Owners lamented that the damage was caused by heavy duty vehicles using the road as an alternatives route to link the Calabar/Itu highway through Oku Village.
They however, called on the Akwa Ibom State government to intervene, by ensuring that heavy duty trucks are stopped from using the road, as it was not constructed to carry such vehicles.
Responding to the development, the Akwa Ibom state Commissioner for works and fire service, Prof. ENO IBANGA said the State Government has awarded a contract for the construction of the Road.
