September 12, 2024 Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Received Petitions On Non-Payment of Salaries

the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly AKHA), has received two petitions from Mr. NSIKAN SUNDAY UMANA, a member of staff of State Technical Education Board, Ministry of Education and ETTEYIN OFFIONG of the Ministry of Trade and Investment.

Presenting the Petition before the House, Chairman House Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Public Petitions, Hon. PRINCE ANIEFIOK ATTAH, disclosed that, the concern of Mr. UMANA is on non-payment of salaries for over 30months from the Ministry of Education without any stated reason, while that of Mr. OFFIONG is on compulsory retirement of unserviceable vehicle from the Ministry of Trade and Investment, Akwa Ibom State.

According to the Chairman, the affected persons have frowned at the wrong treatment through their respective Ministries and appealed for the House to consider the petitions following the current economic hardship in the country.

The House received the petition from Mr. UMANA and referred it to the Committee on Education, while petition on compulsory retirement of unserviceable vehicle was referred to the Committee on Public Account.

Motion to receive the two petitions was moved by member representing Ini State Constituency, Hon. LAWRENCE UDOIDE and seconded by Member representing Oron/Odung Uko State Constituency, Hon. MRS KENIM ONOFIOK.
