House of Representatives Committee on Interior has appealed to Nigerian youths to suspend the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests and embrace dialogue with the government for the improvement of the economy and national development programmes.
Chairman of the committee, ABDULLAHI ALIYU AHMED observed that protests in Nigeria usually open doors for looters and hoodlums on the streets to take advantage of the situation, without fulfilling the public’s intentions and objectives, hence the need for its immediate suspension.
In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, SARDAUNA FRANCIS, the lawmaker said the call for the youths to discontinue the protest followed incidents of looting and destruction of lives and property in some parts of the country.
AHMED said the halting of the leaderless and spontaneous protest would prevent criminal elements from further hijacking the process and causing disruptions to the relative peace in the country.
