Another Super Eagles striker, Sadiq Umar, has been ruled out of the 2023 African Cup of Nations due to injury and is set to be replaced by Paul Onuachu. This comes on the heels of Victor Boniface and Wilfred Ndidi who had earlier been ruled out of the continental showpiece for the same reason.

26-year-old Umar picked up a knee injury in Nigeria’s 2-0 friendly loss to the Syli Stars of Guinea on Monday, in Abu Dhabi, and Medics have confirmed he will not be fit to return for the competition

However, in a Friday statement posted on X by the official Super Eagles account, it was announced that Paul Onuachu will replace Sadiq Umar.
